Normal 0 1836, JR1 Capped Bust Dime R3 (Scarce) Hello everyone!  Up for bid this week are a some goodies so check out our other auctions as well. Everything goes and at no RESERVE like all of our auctions in the past.  This way our bidders have an opportunity to pick up some really neat items without being disappointed by reserve prices.  So, with that said, these are all TRUE AUCTIONS!  Up for bid: 1836, JR1 Capped Bust Dime. Rarity 3 – Scarce. An attractive EF piece with nice old multicolored toning forming on original surfaces.   An eye-appealing premium quality piece with no problems.  No holes, attempted punctures, no digs, no dings, no cuts and no scratches.  A balanced obverse/reverse strike with full dentilation and still substantial original mint luster present around the periphery through the stars and legend.   Attribution Diagnostics:   Obv: 1.  Fancy 8 in date.  Stars 10 and 11 are closer.  Star 13 very close to curl. Light die crack from back of Liberty Cap through Stars 8, 9 and 10.   Rev: A.  Scroll ends under the left leg of M in AMERICA.  I of PLURIBUS under the right foot of T in STATES.   ME of AMERICA joined at base.   These early large size Capped Bust dimes are getting tougher and tougher to locate.  Especially those pieces without problems or damage.   All attributions done using the standard reference on the series, “Early United States Dimes, 1796 – 1837” by David Davis, Russell Logan, Allen Lovejoy, John McCloskey and William Subjack.  Correct attribution is guaranteed. Please email us with any questions BEFORE bidding. (Please see the photos below).  With an opening Bid of only $9.99 you just cannot go wrong! THE STUFF NO ONE WANTS TO READ! Winning bidders will receive payment instructions via email following the auction.  We do not use the Ebay Checkout feature. We will contact you right after the auction with your totals.  The email header will state: TOTAL from SELLER!   If you are the high bidder and you do not receive an email within 24 hours after the auction closes, you may have an overly aggressive spam filter setting that is kicking our email out.  Please adjust your email account settings and then contact us for instructions CAVEATS AND WORDS OF ADVICE . . . Keep in mind that I am a writer/researcher (not a dealer). Therefore you have a 7-day no questions asked return policy on a coin, for any reason, provided it has not been removed from the sealed flip. When I grade early type pieces I do not use loose grading standards like many on ebay today.  I grade by ANA standards and 40 years experience. I will also try my best to explain characteristics of strike (for the particular year, handling history, and so forth), so you have a more complete idea of the coin.  I also will show enlarged (and in focus) obverse and reverse images for your perusal.  I never use stock images.  What you see is EXACTLY what you get.  If it is a raw coin you will get an opinion on the specific piece.  If it is a slabbed coin … you still get my opinion because there is so much junk out there in slabs today that the critique of the coin IS NECESSARY. I refuse to accept the unethical standards and grading practices that are so prevalent out there on ebay today.  I will not fudge images, or sell a slabbed coin (by some garage grading services}. This practice, and it is all over ebay today, is nothing short of THEFT. You, too, should watch out for this con job and keep a list of sellers selling these backroom "grading service" slabs. Finally, do not buy plastic.  Buy the coin! If you cannot see a clear photo of the coin (on BOTH sides) ask the seller for more images.  If he/she does not send them to you then DON'T BID IN THEIR AUCTIONS!  Under no circumstances should you accept a grade on a piece of plastic because ANYONE can slab coins today. Even someone with NO GRADING EXPERIENCE or ETHICS!  Junk slabs (that probably make up 85% of all slabbed coins on ebay today) do not mean a thing when/if you ever sell your coin because a legitimate coin dealer will not even take a second look at this kind of slab.  Instead he will wisely buy the coin inside and most, if not all, of these junk slabs have been overgraded by so many points that they are laughable.  Imagine how much money the lucky winning bidder is going to lose when he/she or their family liquidates! Stick with ebay's practice of only allowing top tier grading services to be stated as certified with numerical grades in the title. If it's a slab, and not listed with a NUMERICAL GRADE in the title – AND by ebay approved slabbing companies (PCGS, NGC, NCS, ANACS, ICG) - then BEWARE! These are likely junk slabs and you should save your money for something that is actually acceptable for your collection - don't gamble with these slabs - because YOU WILL lose. Last, but not least, LEARN TO GRADE yourself.  Do NOT rely on anyone else to tell you the grade of your chosen collecting interest.  BUY the ANA Grading Guide (often listed on ebay for around $12.00) before you ever spend a dime on a coin. Use it and memorize it. The winning bidder of the auction agrees to payment within 10 days of auction close. Buyer agrees to pay $4.99 shipping and handling by USPS Mail AND THIS INCLUDES INSURANCE and Tracking! All pieces such as this will be shipped with insurance
