It is a B-4, a more common variety. This is a well struck specimen with medium brownish gray surfaces and it appears to be a nice original specimen. There are none of the serious scratches or rim bumps that typically plague these old quarters, and XF isn't a typical grade either, most being found in low grade and beat up. I hate to part with nice early original coins like this, but I upgraded and no longer need it, so my loss is your gain. It is an outstanding piece worthy of a fine high grade type or date set and you will be pleased. You are not going to find them like this very often, so grab it before I change my mind and sock it away for another twenty years. These rare and early dates are becoming very difficult to locate now in any grade and almost impossible to find in this grade without shelling out two times what the price guides list it at. Look these up on CCE and you'll see what a bargain it is at my asking price! I bought this a while back at lower levels so I can afford to give the lucky buyer a nice break on it. I need to pay my property taxes and some other bills, so I have it priced at a good bit under current market to sell fast and give someone a great deal. It is a beautiful original looking piece, so grab this bargain before I change my mind and sock this one away for another twenty years! A word on SLABS: I have seen so many misgrades by the major grading services the past couple years, both overgraded and undergraded, that I have lost all faith in them and wonder why anyone would trust their opinion in the first place. And are the 'big boys' telling me you can't get ripped off by buying a PCGS or NGC slab? Sure you can, IF you don't know what you're looking at! I buy raw as often as possible because I hate paying them a premium for what amounts to nothing more than a poor opinion at times.
