Description
happyalways2 Store 1824 PCGS MS62 BUST HALF DOUBLE PROFILE PLANCHET ERROR DOUBLE PROFILE ON OBVERSE! A LINE BREAK ON REVERSE! I am always fascinated by mint errors and try to figure out how an error came to be. And this coin seems to have two. First, take a close look at the facial outline from the bridge of the nose down to the neck. How was the DOUBLE PROFILE created in the minting process? Was the planchet struck twice by the die, the second strike just off by a tiny bit? Then, on the reverse, a break. The position of that break is just perfect: It seems that thecurved beak of the eagle was snagged by a line! And with these peculiarities on BOTH sides, to which side does the PCGS label designation of DEFECTIVE PLANCHET refer to? Shouldn't BOTH oddities been noted down?I haven't seen something like thison any other BUST half or any coin, have you? This coin is an MS62. I have some other coin with the same grade but this one has the devices more raised and distinct. The word LIBERTY and her tresses are clear. It looks like it should be a higher grade! PCGS already has MS60 at $1,550 and MS63 at $2,800 - and that is without errors. My low start is way below my cost and Ienjoyed this coin before PCGS recognized this as a DEFECTIVE PLANCHET mint error. WHAT PREMIUM WOULD YOU ADD TO THE UNUSUAL ERROR(S)? Bid early, bid your best, and take advantage of eBay’s proxy bidding. If you are just browsing, click me to enjoy reading about me. THANKS FOR VISITING ANDPLEASE SEE MY OTHER EXCITING AUCTION ITEM. Enjoy the photos.... Note DOUBLE PROFILE on first photo
