This auction is for: an extremely RARE 1796 Draped Bust Dime grading VG-F, net G-VG. It has an old antique patina and a good amount of detail remaining. These are usually found in low grade and this one is no exception, but it is nowhere near as bad or beat up as most I have encountered in my 42 years of collecting. Other than what you see in the enlarged photos, there are no major dents, grafitti, corrosion or any other problems and the rims are problem free as well. This piece actually looks nicer in hand, and a lot nicer than most lower grade pieces I have seen in my 40+ years collecting! A very nice example for your date or type set. Just try to find one of these priced fairer than this one- they have dried up and are very difficult to find now and when you do find them, they are usually priced at twice book. Fill that hole in your album while this one is still available, as it seems that all the really rare early dated material has just about disappeared from the market and is going up weekly. And are the 'big boys' trying to tell us you can't get ripped off by buying a PCGS or NGC slab? Sure you can, IF you don't know what you're looking at! It seems to me that the very people they claim to be protecting are the ones most likely to be ripped off when buying their slabs! Why pay them a premium for what amounts to nothing more than a poor opinion at times. Sometimes I think they've been doing their grading at the local bar and grill at happy hour!
