Description
1795 Draped Bust Silver Dollar ANACS VF Details, Cleaned, Net F15. Double Struck Error A Rare and Major Error on an Early United States Silver Dollar Major errors on early United States coinage are very rare, particularly on larger denomination coins such as the silver dollar. Each piece was examined after it was struck at the Mint to ensure quality, so very few errors escaped into circulation This piece is plainly double struck. It is most evident on the peripheral regions such as the legends and stars, however it is also quite plain under Liberty's eye, where the effect of the double strike has resulted in what looks like a black eye. The denticles around the rim have been substantially effected as well, showing almost a saw-tooth pattern, as opposed the more rounded denticles of single struck coins. I've provided two sets of close full-coin images. The first (the higher of the two in the image thumbnail section) better represents the color of the piece. The second pair better represents the detail. The details of this piece are roughly that of a VF30 or VF35. This is a rare opportunity to own a significant error from an era that had very few. Great for a Draped Bust Dollar collector! Satisfaction is guaranteed or your money back. Feel free to ask me any questions. This coin would make a great addition to any collection!
