Description
Miller 4.1-B Ct. Copper Struck Over A Nova Constellatio <   107.4 grns. High Rarity-5+. Both the obverse and reverse show very clear details of the underlying Nova Constellatio copper, as shown in our enlarged images. This dark chocolate coin is free of any planchet defects with some faint obverse scratches. Part of the Nova Constellatio “laurel” is seen near the nose and the “85” of the Nova Constellatio’s date is seen inverted, above the top of the head. The reverse is sharp in detail, having hard surfaces and nice eye appeal. Other overstrike indications include the top of the letters “CO” of “CONSTELLATIO” being very clearly seen just above “INDE”. Several stars from the undertype are also apparent, including one in that is in front of the bust and finding another within the lower shield. This coin appears to be somewhat finer than the George Perkin’s Collection example, lot #496, which sold for $1,265 in 2001. More recently, the May 2005, John J. Ford, Jr. specimen, lot #475, graded a much finer Choice AU, hammered at $9,775.   Please add us to your Favorite Sellers List GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING! Powered by eBay Turbo Lister
