Description
$10 large-sized red-seal Federal Reserve Note, series of 1914 from the Richmond district. PMG has graded this note Choice Fine 15. Friedberg # is 896a; serial # is E266076A. Signatures - as with all 1914 red seals - are Burke and McAdoo. Such red seal FRNs are popular for at least three reasons: 1) Red seal $10 FRNs are 8 times rarer than their blue-seal $10 counterparts. 2) There are only 391 'a' type $10 red seals known across all 12 federal-reserve districts. 3) Only 4.2% of all known $10 red seals hail from the Richmond district. A mere 16 examples of this particular Friedberg number are known in all grades based on the Gengerke census as of June 2008. In the larger coin world, this would be considered rare. Here at DBR Currency, we believe that the valuation gap which exists between the coin and currency hobbies will drive collectible-currency values higher over time.
