(Pictures show obserse & reverse side of actual coins.)  These "bingle" tokens were issued by the U.S. Government for colonists' use in the Matanuska Valley Colonization Project, to supply them  with much needed federal aid.  Only in use for approximately 6 months, most of the bingles were redeemed for regular U.S. money. PROVENENCE: We have owned and lived on Colony Tract #106 for over 30 years. Most of these bingles have been collected over the years from people who actually used them, or from their children. This set is in "guaranteed used during the Colony era" condition. .
